Eirian Mediation Conference (2019 Trade War)
#9

Ines Abbott stood before any of the others could make their move. Kerlians had a tendency to be pushy when in the presence of foreigners - a policy which began as an attempt to prove that women were strong and defy stereotypes. These days it just served to make Kerlile seem aggressive, but old habits die hard, and in spite of the Matriarchy’s attempts to change their image, some things changed only slowly.

“The aims of the Matriarchy of Kerlile here are quite clear: we would like to see an end to the sanctions the Imperial Republic of Zamastan have placed on us, and our allies Xiomera. We hope that we can clear up the dispute with Zamastan quickly, and as long as all sanctions are dropped, we will end our embargo of Zamastanian goods. As long as this can be cleared up, we would like to make it known that we are open to trade with Zamastan in the future.”

She paused to take a sip from her glass of water, glancing around to note the expressions on the assembled delegates faces, then continued.

“We are aware that the Trivians have already made an apology for their unprovoked attack on our broadcast systems, but we would like to hear that apology reiterated, and to receive reparations for the damage their attack did to our systems. We would like in writing an assurance that no such attack will be repeated. If we receive such reassurances, then we will consider ending the embargo on Trivian products. We would like to make it clear, however, that unprovoked attacks on the sovereignty of the Kerlian nation cannot be tolerated.”

She sat down, eyeing the Trivian delegation and waiting for someone else to respond.
