Tomás Arenas stood once more. He seemed somewhat surprised at the lack of a rebuttal from Conternia, but he nevertheless prepared to continue.

“Your honour, former Prime Minister Ezra Griffiths of Conternia is responsible for the Melissa City terrorist attacks detailed in the previous item. He sanctioned the operation, in the knowledge that it involved illegal activity. He is therefore responsible for the attacks and the deaths that occurred.

As already detailed in the previous item, leaked documents have established the Conternian government, led by Mr Griffiths at the time, was responsible for the attacks. Prior to Mr Griffiths’ resignation as Prime Minister, he admitted to the press that he had sanctioned the operation after publicly declaring neutrality in the Lauchenoirian conflict, and that he had known the operation was ‘dirty’.

Mr Griffiths then resigned as Prime Minister, after admitting his crimes, and fled Kiwi Bird City, the capital of Conternia in an attempt to evade justice. He was later apprehended by the Conternian authorities.

Ezra Griffiths is responsible for the atrocities committed by the four Conternian Intelligence Service operatives in Melissa City. His sanctioning of this illegal operation makes him responsible for the death and destruction that occurred.”

Arenas sat down, eyeing the Conternian counsel, wondering just what was going through Toller’s mind.
