Lauchenoirian Political Parties
#4

Significant Regional Parties

There are two political parties which only stand in a single province, however are important to mention because they either have had representation in the national parliament, or are likely to in the future.

Aelurian Independence Party

The AIP is a centre-left political party dedicated to achieving independence for the people of Aeluria. While Aeluria is part of the Federation of Lauchenoiria, the AIP will aim to ensure that Aelurian interests are respected and represented.

The party is economically centre-left but somewhat socially conservative. It is currently led by Nazario Macías, though current interim Prime Minister Keitha Noguera is a member.

Social Issues

They want to massively increase health spending to deal with the fallout of the war, introduce programmes to help drug addicts, provide extra subsidies to native Aelurians for higher education to tackle historic discrimination, make sure all curriculum is set at a provincial level.

Economic Issues

They want to increase funding to devolved authorities, and believe the capitalism referendum is a question for the mainland parties.

Security Issues

They want to allow limited gun ownership, would vote to cut military spending, but sees it as a question for the mainland parties, wants guarantees the military won’t be used on the Lauchenoirian population, surveillance should be restricted in the interests of privacy and individual liberty, only suspected criminals can be watched.

International Issues

They want to ensure Aeluria has the power to interact with the wider international community in its own right, restrict immigration resettlement on Aeluria, as it is damaging the native population and culture, have programmes to discourage native emigration.

Constitutional Issues

Aeluria should be independent but will respect the referendum result as per the Haven Accords.

After the war, the party says: “this is why we need independence.”

Anarchist Party of Yervia

Known by its Spanish-language acronym PAY (Partido Anarquista de Yervia), PAY is an alliance of various anarchists who decided they would attempt to ‘play the game’ of electoral politics. The party is disorganised and has had historically low support due to it, however recently has surged as high as 26% in Yervia. (You'll find out why when I get around to our elections).

The party’s registered official leader is Cory Scott; however, the party has stated that this is only for ‘legal purposes’ and that they have no leader.

Social issues

They want to keep state-funded health, but run it on a local level, scrap centralised education in favour of community-run schools, and make Spanish the only official language of Yervia.

Economic issues

They would give almost all the money to local communities to decide how to use it, scrap the whole centralised system, replace with local collectives.

Security issues

They would allow all gun ownership, cut all centralised military spending, let each province be in charge of its own defence to reduce likelihood of authoritarian central government, and believe all government surveillance should be banned.

International issues

They want to focus more on the local level, but do not intentionally antagonise or block international relations, open the borders completely, allow everything.

Constitutional issues

Yervia should be granted an independence referendum like Aeluria, almost everything should be devolved to local communities.

In the aftermath of the war, they say: “this is the natural result of centralised government.”
