Gonhog Draws, Continues to Lead Group in IDUFC

The Gonhog football team continued its hunt for the Cup in its second group stage match located at Hansui Stadium. Gonhog was the favorite of the match against the group underdog [nation]New Lusitania and the Algarves[/nation], however eventually drew after an uneventful first half.
Midfielder Ashok Gronchi scored in the 52nd minute after a nice bit of play from the Gonhog back. The team moved the ball towards the right edge, where fellow Vaela FC player Sebastian Pokorney crossed the ball into the box. Gronchi met the ball with his foot and drove it past the keeper.
Play continued, and as the game passed the 70th minute mark, the New Lusitania offense sprung into action. Despite a valiant effort by both the elite Gonhogian defense as well as goalkeeper and captain Michael Rollins, the convoluted attack ended with a goal by New Lusitania’s Francisco Gama.

Coach David Balek, when asked to summarize the game during the press conference after the match, commented,
“New Lusitania was the underdog and has been but continues to perform and continues to surprise Group D. We played our hardest and so did they, the game speaks for itself... (chuckles) thinking back to Rollins’ comment, we didn’t give them anything, they took it for themselves. LOM better watch out.”
Gonhog continues to lead Group D with 4 points. The Hogs face the Trive White Bears next week to qualify for the elimination round.
