Carvile
July 25th - Midnight

Corporal Arnold Baker had been lying in his bed in the MSH for the past 48 hours in agony. While rounding up fleeing Gonhog troops, Baker had taken a stray bullet to the shoulder blade, which fractured, splintered, and caused severe internal bleeding. He had at least been resting soundly with the knowledge that the Coalition was almost to Elopolis and had gained major amounts of foreign support. Now, however, he was wide awake. The scratch sound of a transistor radio running had awoken him from his restless slumber.

"Yes, In other news, official reports have come in that a large Maximusian Force was seen heading back to Carville. They may be planing to relive the Special Forces Operatives of their watch duty of the city."

"˜Perfect' Baker thought two himself, "the media bought our lame story." No sooner had he finished this thought than the Chanel was changed and Baker was silenced. It was a resistance station, more and more were poping up as the Resistance gained ground. "We have a special announcement to make!" the host began with delight. "Remember that bastard that called for a vote of no confidence back in may on Leanna Walker? That same guy who has been tearing this fine nation apart... Our sources say that he died of his wounds this afternoon. This information has not yet been fact-"

Suddenly, a great huzzaing broke out in the once silent surgical hospital. "A snake can't live without its head screamed one man, who's eye had been gauged out by a Gonhog troop. More cheering continued until Baker suddenly called out, "Enough!" The room went silent as Baker sat up. "He had two sons you know. They will never see their father again. Do not rejoice in someone's demise. Mourn the fact that it had to come to what it came to. Besides, we haven't actualy done anything strategically useful by killing him. Chaher was a pawn. That is all. He was out of the game a month ago when Walker shot him." The room remained silent. "It ain't over yet," whispered one man.
