"Lauchenoiria is in flames," Colonel Zheng Zhiwei, second-in-command of Laeralian troops in Lauchenoiria, said. He unrolled a map of the country and placed it on the table in the command bunker. He pointed to the position of the Coalition front line. "We're pushing northward towards the Ecanta provincial border- on fact, I think a Skodenian scouting unit reporting coming within sight of it."
"Excellent," Brigade-General Lemercier said. "What about in Carville?"
"Our forces reached the outside of the city and were forced away," Zheng said. "The Kerlians and Lauchenoirians there were dug in and determined. You've said you don't want to take the city?"
"That's correct," Lemercier said. "Far too easy to get bogged down in there."
"What if we send some of the Maximusians there? " Zheng asked. "They're fresh but they're not veterans. If we ask them to leave a screening force to prevent the Junta's forces from breaking out of Carville, our lead elements are free to advance northward."
"Into Ulinaria," Lemercier said. "Where the rebels are launching an uprising."
Zheng nodded. "That sounds like a plan. Have you heard from the Gendarme commander in Usera?"
"He says that it's quiet," Lemercier said. "There's been some plotting, but no attacks. His 40 men are spending their time training the rebels."
"Very well," Zheng said. "Should we tell the Gendarme commander, what's her name, to send another squad or two?"
"Can't hurt," Lemercier said, "especially since we've been reinforced."
