Death Penalty Stance

I found the following article very interesting and contributed to it:

International Death Penalty Statistics

I'd like to encourage those of you whom like to add your nation to NSWiki articles to contribute your nation's position to this article. The more articles that link to our nations, the better *and* Capital Punishment is a divisive issue in the UN, which it can only help us to understand one another if we document our national policies on these issues.

Naturally if you want help with the article, just post your position here and one of us that frequently updates on NSWiki will add your national position to the list! Smile

Good call on this.

I've already updated the Wiki, but for those who are interested:

The Consular Confederation of Jonquiere Tadoussac retains the death penalty for impaired driving causing death.
There can be no excuse for this crime, and the harshest measures are taken to deter people from ever contemplating it. Rest assured that absolute proof is needed before execution of sentence, but if you are guilty...

Thank you for pointing this out. Please list us as follows:

The Republic of Stolidia: The death penalty has been abolished for all crimes.

We have been asked by our sister nations to request you add them, too, as follows:

The Principality of Ausserland: The death penalty has been abolished for all crimes.
The Protectorate of Wailele Island: The death penalty has been abolished for all crimes.

Thank you.

The death penalty never existed in Fonzoland. (Corporal punishment and other assaults on the dignity of human beings are also out of the question. Yes, guess what, we do consider criminals to be human beings.)

In the schnauzerlands :

Quote: The death penalty has not yet been applied as its use is limited to acts of mass terrorism, genocide, or political assassination of government officials. The Schnauzerlands include Grosseschnauzer, Kinderliebstadt, Neu Grosseschnauzer, Purple Schnauzers, the Schnauzer Dominions, the Schnauzer Homelands, and the Schnauzer States. In addition, the death penalty has to be administered in a "humane" manner, and there is uncertainty as to what methods can be legally considered as "humane."
In Baranxtu:
Quote: The death penalty has been abolished for all crimes by a federal law.
Whereas the provinces of Abasina and Halaora have not formally abolished the death penalty, all convictions would automatically be overturned by the federal law.
In Cikoutimi:
Quote:
The Draft for a Cikoutimian Constitution still has to be ratified; if it should pass, death penalty would be abolished.
In Otea:
Quote: The death penalty officially still exists for a number of crimes, but it has not been applied for 29 years now. Whether or not it should be abolished in the new constitution is still under discussion.
The death penalty is legal in Antrium, it is only applied to especially heinous murders, severe acts of treason, and terrorism.

Wow!

That is a great response from everybody!

Stolidia, I've added your government and your "allies". Wink At some point in time, we ought to make a stub for you, because you're government (and your allies) have been active and no doubt could link to other nations.

I wonder if there are similar articles on international hot topics like abortion, nuclear armament, and recreational drug use??? If I can't find those topics on NSWiki, is there an interest in documenting them as well?

The Nordic Republic of Ceorana: the death penalty has been abolished for all crimes. IN some cases, Ceorana offers political asylum to refugees from other nations who would receive the death penalty.

|- |The Empire of Keeslandia |The death penalty has not yet been applied in over 35 years as its use is limited to acts of premeditated mass murder, genocide, or political assassination of government officials. An unofficial moritorium on the use of the death penalty has been in place as declared by Emperor Ullr over the last 10 years. While still on the books, it would take an extraordinary act for it to be applied again and this would certainly not occur during the reign of our current Emperor. As the Emperor has put a moritorium on the practice, Parliament has not felt the need to address the matter. We'll see whether the issue will arise again when the next succession to the throne occurs. |-

But, I'm pretty lousy with the formatting on this stuff. It looks pretty ugly. If someone could clean it up, it would be sincerely appreciated.

There are so many ways to tackle those sorts of things ... my favorite method, which sadly leads to incomplete articles:

Write an outline and fill in the details and formatting *after* you get the basic organization setup.

Just start with something like:

Geography

History

Politics

Culture

etc.

Those are four basic parts of most nations. You can later move stuff around and ask for help with the formatting.

There's no death penalty in Yelda, so I'm assuming that there isn't one in Franxico either. I honestly don't remember. It's been ages since that issue has come up but I can't imagine that I would have ruled in favor of the death penalty here. Let's just say Franxico doesn't have one.

I'm thinking right now that no one wants to touch the abortion issue with a ten foot pole, even to make a NSWiki article on it (I certainly don't). As for the others, it could be a good way of increasing our understandings of one another in the same way, and of deepening the NS Universe.

But not abortion, at least not right now.
