Novella Islands' candidacy statement is as follows:
"As a counterpoint to our dear friend Eiria, I have only just reached the one-year mark since I joined the IDU. Prior to getting back into the swing of NationStates and joining the IDU, I was leading the oldest - and the only democratic! - alliance in "that other game", CyberNations. Personally, I find NS to be far more rewarding, and I've enjoyed getting to share a huge flurry of content with you over the past couple of weeks of my holidays; I hope to share many more with you all!
I, too, would love to get regional RP into a regular rhythm and swing. I spent the last few weeks pouring over the mountains of content on the forums, absolutely adoring it, and finding myself wanting to jump in... only to find quite often that they're months (or years!) old. I'd love to help reinvigorate that however I can, whether that be through bringing back old favourites, or starting with some fresh ideas... Both! The main thing, from my perspective, is regularity; there needs to be encouragement and buy-in from everyone, to every so often engage, else individual RP opportunities may die out (and if that happens too many times, the whole scene just stagnates).
Personally, LIDUN seems especially interesting to me, so my key aim would be to get it into a regular pattern of proposing/debating/passing something, at regular intervals; from that, I have no doubt a healthy culture of tangential RP will arise. As someone who is writing a post-graduate thesis on the international system, getting to RP our own would be amazing fun (and a great bit of practice for the future, I'm sure!). Importantly, I think, it's a great way to have multi-lateral RP, with all nations; whereas some individual RPs may find it hard to accommodate certain nations, by its nature, LIDUN is all-inclusive.
In either case, I do invite you all to reach out and organise something with me; I hope we can all foster a more active IDU, together
