Pop-ups?
#1

Is everyone else getting 2 pop-up ads on every screen on this forum, or is it just me? I want to know if I should be checking my computer for adware or if it's just a new Invisionfree thing.

Either way, boo pop-ups

Now I'm randomly being taken to a site called SinglesNet, or an auction on eBay, at random times browsing the forum.

And pop-ups

EDIT: And in one very strange incidence, while hitting the "back" button on my browser (IE7) one time, it refused to go back, and the reputation points of the person on the page (it happened to be GS) kept rising, all the way to 20 before I closed the screen. (They didn't stay that way, obviously.)

I'm sort of thinking it may have to do with our ASAPcomm box. I know some things like that contain advertisements to keep them free.

EDIT 2: It doesn't happen in Firefox 2. So I guess I'll use that to look at these forums. (I have both.)

I've never had a popup on here. You might have inadvertantly downloaded some adware.

I thought about that, I'll run AntiVirus and find out. Although it usually tells me right away if it finds something...

I've overlapped how I protect my computers from popups. First I use Firefox except for Windows/Microsoft updates. I have Norton installed on both computers, and I use Yahoo mail for email. It scans all email before I can open or download email, and the Yahoo Tool Bar contains a link to a free anti-spy software.

It seems crazy to do it that way, but it seems to be the best way to minimize risks.

edited because of all of the damn typos.

Yep, I've got Norton too. And a combination of Yahoo (where everything I had to give my email address to goes) and Gmail (for things I know aren't spam) which both work well at stopping unauthorized downloads.

As far as I know, I don't go anywhere that would have adware, and it's only this site that I get strange pop-ups on. I'm just going to switch to using Firefox for NS. FF and IE7 are basically the same thing anyway.

Yeah, IE7 has tabs.

(I know, I should quit using it.)

But FF has a spiffy shiney cute animal associated with it, and not the fiery pits of hell

It's strange, but I am getting the exact same pop up now every time I come to the forum. And it didn't start until I did upgrade to FireFox 2.0.

It's from a site www2.cbox.ws And it's somehow involved with the forum pages sdownloading. It keeps wanting to install software on the computer and I just close the box since it does not have a cancel button.

cbox?
Yep, It's the tag board.

I'll get rid of it for abit.

That helped a lot, it's running faster and there's less pop-ups and weird re-directs.
