Welcome aboard the Trive-IDU Baseball Classic Friendlies presented by Roasters, quality Trivian coffee at your doorstep.
This annual competition will determine the best baseball team in the IDU, while hopefully furthering the popularity of the sport in the region.

RP Notes:
The Trivian Premier League of Baseball, along with the Trivian Ministry for Sports, will reimburse transit and housing costs for all athletes. Ticket sales are allocated through a free-for-all system, with 10% of seats reserved for Trivians.

We'll start with a series of friendly games between the first 4 teams to enroll:
All games shall be held in the Pine Tree Stadium @ Petropavlovskiy-Kamchatsky.

10:00 AM - Libertas Omnium Maximus (The Spear) v. Gardavasque (The Hopefuls)
6:00 PM - Trive (White Army) v. Zamastan (Whitecaps)

LOM's baseball team, "The Spear", is known for its superb batting and quick runners. Matches against this team will prove to be balanced.
In some opposition, the surprisingly solid team of Gardavasque, fittingly nicknamed "The Hopefuls", are a more defensive team, according to our scouts, who had some words in from the newly formed team. Gardavasque has no professional baseball league, but the team seems to be quite solid - its amateurishness has won some sympathy among the Trivians.
The Zamastan Whitecaps, judging by our scouting evaluation, seems to have a more balanced style of baseball, similarly to Trive's.
Nonetheless, these will be interesting series.

The teams representing Shuell and Sand Point have arrived at Vladivostok. We're yet to have an accurate word about their teams - we'll figure that out soon, though. That is, if our scouts make it out of their training alive!

LOM 2 - 11 GDV
Gardavasque's amateur team shocked fans today by absolutely hammering "the Spear" - they started off with a 5 run lead, and despite some attempts from the Maximusian team at recovering, their defensive errors along with some superb hitting from the Hopefuls' batters would lead to this amazing victory.
An unfortunate incident took place at the top 2nd inning, where second baseman Vernalee Quinox was hit in the face by a 4-Seam Fastball thrown by LOM's John Daley - he was replaced by pinch hitter Tyrone Shu, who had 2 RBI's and one HR scored at the 4th inning - establishing himself as a good replacement.
Man of the match: Tess Tickler - AVG .750 - 2 HR, 1 double (CF - GDV)

TRV 8 - 0 ZAM
The home team had one of their standard performances today - early leading and solid defending. An impressive three-run home run hit by left fielder Charles Miller at the bottom of the 2nd would come off as the highlight of the game.
Fortunately, no injuries were recorded on this game.

Congrats to [nation]Trive[/nation] on their win in today's friendly game, and thanks to [nation]Libertas Omnium Maximas[/nation] for a game well played. Vernalee wants to let everyone know she's okay. She joked with a post-game interviewer on GBC, "It's my own fault. You see, I was standing there wondering why John Daley's face looked so familiar - then it hit me."

Reports coming in from all Provinces that today's game was a TV ratings hit, and "The Hopefuls" are destined to become household names after today. Looking forward to tomorrow's game.

[Zamastan]

Coach Henry Dobbingson of the Whitecaps congratulates Trive on their victory, and promises to work to better their players performances and readiness for the match-up against Libertas Omnium Maximus. TV ratings for the first round of friendlies in Zamastan were low, but after the defeat on Thursday, Zamastanians are eager to root on their team. A recent survey of 20,000 households show that more than 67% of people plan on tuning in to the LOM-ZAM match.

The teams representing Kerlile and Norte Prata have arrived at Vladivostok. We're yet to have an accurate word about their teams - we'll figure that out soon, though. We made sure to send FEMALE scouts to the Kerlilian team.

Their arrival will close the Friendlies - all further teams will have to wait until March 2nd to play.

TRV 3 - 3 (4 aET) GDV
Gardavasque's amateur team shocked fans again by getting a sweet turnaround against the hosts. Trive started out with a three-run lead, but couldn't maintain a solid defense, letting Gardavasque equalise at the bottom of the 5th inning with an RBI double batted by Sterling Bangles, who would become man of the match after scoring the winning run at the bottom of the 7th inning .

ZAM 8 - 6 LOM
Zamastan's promise to recover was kept, as they also did a great turnaround against the Maximusian team. The Spear started out with a 4 run lead with a Two-run HR and two RBI Doubles - but the Whitecaps recomposed themselves - by scoring an Inside the Park home run at the bottom of the 1st inning, striking out all three batters in the top of the 2nd, and a massive turnaround at the bottom of the 2nd with a Three-run home run by Travis Summers, one RBI Double, and one RBI Single.
The game went on to some failed attempts of turnaround by the Maximusians - but the Whitecaps kept on scoring.

This annual competition will determine the best baseball team in the IDU, while hopefully furthering the popularity of the sport in the region.

Today we had the first matches of Conference 2. Sand Point's AI team and Kerlile's all female team are guaranteed to be interesting additions to the sport.

NOR 3 - 5 KER
The Feminists of Kerlile unsurprisingly beat the heavily amateur "Seleção" from Norte Prata. After an early lead at the top of the 1st inning, started by two RBI doubles scored by Gertrud Moloney and Zdenka Nazarnyan. Norte Prata did recover and tie up the game with a RBI double scored by Gabriel Honda and a 2-run home run by Akumi Shingun at the bottom of the 3rd. Unfortunately for them, a solo home run by Terezia Perry and an inside the park home run by Sona Danielson would seal their fate.
Woman of the match: Sona Danielson - HR, 2 singles - 2 for 3

ISS 3 - 4 SPR
Protests against Sand Point took place during the match, outside the stadium, but the local security force was able to contain the protesters. Three people were arrested on charges of vandalism and 5 others were injured. The protest was against Sand Point's policy of legalised slavery. 427 people attended the protest.
Sand Point's Golden Boys, the fully AI team - went on to defeat Shuell's Crows by a narrow margin of 3-4. They started their lead with an RBI single at the top of 1st, though Shuell did recover with a Three-run home run scored by designated hitter Nykko Bell at bottom 3rd. Their lead was kept until the top of 5th, where 2 RBI doubles were scored. The 6th and final inning would prove to be decisive, as the Golden Boys scored yet another RBI double, which would seal the match.

Today we had some interesting results, with LOM's "the Spear" getting their first win - and the Gardavasqueans Hopefuls earning yet another win.

LOM 3 - 2 TRV
In a shocking twist of events, the Maximusian team went on to get their first victory on the Friendlies against their Trivian hosts. An early lead was taken by Billy Barton, who scored a 2-Run HR for the Spear at the top of the 2nd. Trive did try and recover, with veteran catcher Yan Gomes scoring a RBI Double at the bottom of the 3rd. The Spear's lead was extended by a RBI Double scored by Will Turner at the top of the 5th. Trive's last recovery attempt at the bottom of the 6th with a RBI Double scored by Lukas Pavlyuchenko was put down by the Maximusian defence, making the final score 3-2, furthering the hopes of the Friendlies' Trophy for the Maximusians.
MOTM: Billy Barton - 2 for 4 - 2-Run HR, Single

GDV 4 - 3 ZAM
The Gardavasquean Hopefuls are surely the black horse of the Friendlies - a purely amateur team has once again handed it to the pros. Willie Maykitt open the scoring board with a Solo HR at the top of 1st. Zamastan countered with a RBI Double at bottom 1st, and took the least at the bottom of the 3rd with a Solo HR by Travis Summers. Gardavasque countered at the top of 4th with 2 RBI Doubles and one RBI Single making the score 4-2. Zamastan did score again at the bottom of 5th with a solo HR by Ruari Irvine, but failed to score any further.
