Jennifer Government

Since no one bit on this when posted in a different thread...

Has anyone here actually read Jennifer Government or any of Max Barry's other books? Can't say I have... can't say I'd even heard of them before I was intro'd to NS.

I've read Jennifer Government, it was actually pretty funny and good overall.

I've been *asking* my family to buy me the book for two years. I know I could borrow it from a library, but it seems to me that paying for it at this point is worthwhile.

I've not bought the book for myself as my family has said I'm impossible to buy things for (even though I give them pages of list items).

Mod Edit:
I'm pinning this topic ... it is something that has brought us all together, it is a good thread, and others might later want to discuss the MB novels as well!

I've never read them either. I probably should. I've seen some very good reviews of his newest book, Company. I might get them from the library this summer, assuming they have them.

Okay, I looked them up at amazon (and I also ordered them, so in two months or so I can tell you whether I liked 'em or not), and then I see this...

Why, why do German translators always have to go that extra mile to be as cheesy as possible and make as few people as possible actually buy the product Rolleyes ?

I actually thought a minute or two about getting the German translation, but then I just nixed that. My head would probably rotate Big Grin

I finished Syrup and it as soon as I have time I'll tackle his other two books.

That said, I quite enjoyed Syrup; it's layout is something I needed to get used to first, but it's really a good read, albeit not in my "Top Ten List of Books That Absolutely Rock!Woot!".

So yeah, if you got a dime to spare, spend it for that book Wink.

Nope, never read any of Max's book. Although I will eventually.

I actually reread all his books two months or so ago, which made me come back here Big Grin

So, since I never commented on Jennifer Government and Company: I enjoyed both, though Jennifer Government is a bit overstuffed with characters and rather contrived coincidences weaving them all into one plot.
Company, imo, is the best of the three and his progress as an author really shows.

I read Jennifer Government about two years ago. Discovering something about a movie being made actually led me to NS.
