I would like your thoughts on upgrading the board to Zeta.

It was originally my plan to do so in 2007, though the launch of the Public Zeta was pushed back until 2008 and so instead my efforts were focused on customizing this board.

I have been meaning to make the switch for quite some time - the main reasons being that it is much much speedier and it's code is much much more flexible. Nearly everything you see here had been hacked in, Zeta would allow me to actually build customizations into the code.

personally, for, also i would like to make a note that our regional wiki has been highly vandalized and currently is full of spam, so we should close it or use it once again and protect it from spam

As regards the regional wiki, that was really only created as a temporary measure while NSwiki was out of action, so once people have scanned it for any additions that they want transferred to the latter location it could probably be dispensed with...

Dom, I haven't been around here much because it's been slow in the IDU, and I've essentially become the primary Admin of TNP's forum; and I've spent the last year (a) writing a new edition of a professional book I've been responsible for since 1993 (b) dealing with my eyes, and I'm now in between my two cataract surgeries; and (c ) finding a new schnauzer puppy after Edie died unexpectedly in March. Not to mention a long distance move for the eye surgery and the strong likelihood of another long distance move at year's end or soon thereafter.

However, I'm in a better position to give some attention to the IDU again, if others are as well. As an admin I vote wholehearted for the migration to the Zetaboard platform; we migrated the TNP forums to Zetaboards in June, and we've had no real problems as a result. The main issue is coding because some features we used were not included in the basic Zetaboards setup and have to be inserted using code that can be found at the Zetaboard technical support forums. (Example is a code to permit PMs to be sent to more than one recipient; PM notifications when one log ins, and some other stuff.) Feel free to take a look at the TNP forums to see what we have done.

I hope the rest of you are doing well; I will revive Neu Grosseschnauzer and place it in the IDU, but for now, my WA will have to remain in TNP as I've built up a lot of endos and influence in TNP at NS.net. In fact, if I read the list right a few days ago, GS is now 70th or so in the NS world in influence. I haven't decided what I will do with the other puppets but if things pick up here then I'm more than willing to bring them back to the IDU for roleplay purposes.

Addendum: I've revived all of my other puppets, and if you click on my profile (any of you), you'll see a pic of the schnauzer puppy I am adopting and bringing home around the 30th. Her calling name is Lieb, she's my third Kinderlieb (I love that name on a schnauzer), but her calling name will mean "Beloved" which is a vernacular use of "Lieb" in German. And she is beloved.
