On behalf of His Majesty the Emperor, I, his humble servant and Minister of State for the Texian Empire, extend greetings to all in the International Democratic Union. On this day, this great region has been chosen to serve as host for our home dominion.
I'm sure some of you may be concerned (due to imperialistic nature of our name) that an empire might not share the ideals of freedom, stability and democracy above all. I can assure you that is not the case. We applaud those very ideals, and actively work to maintain those freedoms for the subjects of our realm. In practicality, the Empire is that in name only - it is akin more to that of the real life British Commonwealth, albeit with closer ties between its members. Each dominion within the Empire maintains a high level of autonomy, and is permitted to elect a representative to represent their interests in the Imperial Senate, which governs the Empire as a whole. The Emperor officially has no position within the government (a figurehead), but is often called upon for guidance by the Senate and the people as a respected advisor and speaker.
Oh my, I do apologize for rambling on as such. In conclusion, we the Texian Empire look forward to working together with our new neighbors over the coming days in the name of peace and prosperity for all.
