Amicus Unio Award 2019

Nomination Thread

As appointed Master of Ceremonies for the 2019 Amicus Unio Award Ceremony, it is my distinct pleasure to open this thread to the public for nominating this year's candidates. As a reminder, any NationStates user who has one or more nations in the [region]International Democratic Union[/region] region may nominate a candidate for the prestigious award (the exception being the Master of Ceremonies, who may neither nominate nor be nominated in his/her year of service).

Duration
This thread will be open from 12:45 AM EST (or approximately that time) on December 10th, 2019 until December 16th, 2019 at 12:45 PM EST.

Eligibility
All nominees, in order to be considered for the award,

1. Must be nominated by a user other than themselves.
2. Must be a current resident of the International Democratic Union.

It is also highly encouraged that the candidate being nominated meets the following standards, as outlined by the Amicus Unio Guidelines,

1. Furthered the collective development of the IDU's canon over the year.
2. Exemplifies the values of the region.
3. Truly is a welcoming individual who is always willing to lend and hand in getting new users integrated.

Provisions Regarding Alternative Accounts
Alternative NationStates Accounts, colloquially know as "puppet accounts" or "puppets", may not be nominated for the award. Users are nominated, not nations. The only exception to this rule is if a user's primary account is located in another region. If this is the case, the primary nation used by the user in the International Democratic Union will serve as the user's name for our purposes.

Additional Provisions
If a user attempts to nominate themselves for the award they will forfeit the ability to be nominated by any user in that year.
There is no limit to how many users may nominate the same candidate in a single year however, the number of nominations will have no effect on actual voting procedure. Additionally, a single user may not nominate multiple candidates for the award in the same year.

Tribute to the Nominee: Xiomera, a relatively new player to the International Democratic Union, instantly showed a spurt of creativity and ambition to get involved in role-playing opportunities and to make his name known in the forum community. Jumping in on the Bjeorg War Roleplay, he began to flush out and cement his nation's history into a comprehensive intertwining of additional nations. Apart from joining RP's from the get-go, he created a series of RP scenarios himself - a pair of uniquely detailed news-wire thread in the form of the Xiomeran Chronicles and the XIN vs HNN broadcasts, an immensely entertaining story in Requiem for a Tyrant, Fight for a Throne, and even a game-show involving a 'Wipeout' style premise, Xiomera has proved time and time again to be one of the most detailed participating members of the active IDU community. As someone who appreciates extensive RP's, Xiomera's cooperation is inspiring, and his unique national culture and build is also a hallmark of his character.

Xiomera also consistently portrays flexibility, kindness, and a humility not often seen by every member of our region. His willingness to help players, collaborate with players, and encourage others is an important trait. I believe he is more than worthy of receiving this award.

Name of Nominator: Laeral
Tribute to the Nominee: Lauchenoiria is an obvious choice for this honor because of her tremendous contributions to the IDU as a community. In the roleplay field, Lauchenoiria was among the most important nations in establishing the IDU's roleplay; her pioneering roleplay "Have I Got Coups For You" remains one of the region's finest achievements, and could never have succeeded without her crucial role in driving the narrative. Lauchenoiria is perhaps the region's single most active user, managing not one but two incredibly active nations and engaging with more joint roleplay collaborations, such as phone calls and meetings with other regional leaders. Lauchenoiria's characters consistently display impressive depth; characters such as Laura Moore, Anita Patel, and the magnificent Leonie Bennet are beloved or hated among those who have followed her work. Lauchenoiria's newsthreads, both the Kerlian News Service and the Lauchenoirian Guardian, produce consistently strong news articles on a regular basis, and Lauchenoiria has worked exceptionally hard on creating and managing the ongoing "The Hunt for Auroras" roleplay, which includes an impressive number of participants and which she has put blood, sweat, and tears into managing.

In addition to her roleplay accomplishments and writing skill, Lauchenoiria has also been a role model in her interactions with other members of the region. As elected Delegate, she's smoothed over tense situations and guided the region with a stable hand. She behaves with kindness towards all members of the region, and is never sparing in her compliments and support for the RP contributions of others. She also shows moral leadership through her humility, even requesting a smaller space on the regional map so that her nations could fit her preferred vision of them. She doesn't feel the need to roleplay as having the biggest military or the most area or population- she just produces the best possible narratives that she can. For her unparalleled contributions over the past three years, and her model attitude and leadership, I believe that Lauchenoiria best deserves this honor.
