The New Right realised a phone call between Slokais PM Joseph Chavez and New Right MP Micheal Spencer.

This phone call prompted many people to claim the Joseph Chavez is unfit to be President if elected on the December 30th Presidential Election.
"He is unfit to lead our, nation," said Jonathan Long another New Right MP
"This phone call should be taken as a wake-up call to Slokais that our PM is not in the right place"
Others argue that he was just expressing his anger at what was going on in Southland

Protest in Southland Turns Violent:
New Right protesters stood off with a New Liverpool PD after the New Right surrounded the Kaijan Comunity Center of Southland. There was also an attack on a kaijese businessman in the area that may have been caused by the New Right. Then a masked man stabbed an officer, afterward, a brawl began and was only stopped by an unknown tear gas canister. Both parties retreated back as the New Right though tires at the police surrounding the building. Since then its been quite as attempts to enter the building have been foiled by burning tires. There is now a full-scale manhunt in place for the attacker with the knife.

Conflict in Kaijan grows:
The Kaijan League has stepped up attacks in northern Kascan Township in North Kaijan. They now hold 40% of the Township as well as 7 towns. They also took over some towns are the nearby Allmack Township. There have been rumors that the League has executed a number of Central Government officials within their area of control. They are also running a radio station out of their areas of control.

(Europeia - November 26, 2020) President Peeps announced the treaty of Cairdeas with new ally Caer Sidi on November 19. In the announcement, President Peeps described the proposed amendments of the treaty.

"I submit for ratification the Treaty of Cairdeas, an alliance with Caer Sidi. We have enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Caer Sidi for some time now, with our regions having celebrated a Region of the Week not to long ago and frequently cooperating militarily. The latter especially caused us to decide to pursue a full treaty immediately, rather than a Non-Aggression Pact. I look forward to continued cooperation and friendship under this agreement. [...] Finally, the name, Cairdeas, is the Irish word for friendship, which we thought quite fitting."

The treaty was supported by most senators immediately, After some concerns about the language and nature of the treaty were discussed, Speaker Lime moved the treaty to a vote.

The treaty was passed unanimously 5-0-0 on Tuesday, November 24.

Vice President Pichtonia will celebrate the treaty with Caer Sidi's monarch Aynia Moreaux and their Taioseach Icarus live on EBC Radio on Sunday, November 29, at 11 PM CET/5 PM EST.

A New Term Begins

Statsminister and Talman Elections

The nomination process for the November Statsminister election saw both houses of the Storting separately resolve to nominate John S. Talleyrand for the position of Statsminister. He was subsequently appointed to the position by King North East Somerset.

The elections for Talman (Speaker of the Odelsting) also took place in November, with veteran member Theoden Sebastian putting himself forward for re-election. Theoden gained re-election with the unanimous support of those that voted.

State Opening of Parliament

With the Statsminister election concluded, King North East Somerset formally opened parliament. Speaking of John's service as Culture Minister in the previous term, the King noted he was "somewhat a rising star of Balder during this period" the King went on to say "With his experience serving in Cabinet here, and also in high offices abroad, I have confidence in his ability."

Looking back at the previous term, the King noted a number of successes, stating:

I was pleased to see a positive contribution from Balder to the CRAB initiative on N-Day, alongside our allies in The West Pacific, NPO and UK. We collectively outperformed expectations there, surviving to the very end despite our much smaller critical mass compared to the major alliances. The launch of the new roleplay map, the Nordic Atlas, I hope will garner some interest going forwards. The remodelled Viking Art Rewards scheme appears to have enjoyed more success than the original initiative thanks to the efforts of the Crown Prince, and may be a factor in our relative improvement in endorsement rates over the past month, which has put me firmly back into the top 10 WA Delegates by endorsements. In the World Assembly we have once more proven influential, and a highlight from the term was the successful defeat of a condemnation resolution concerning our allies, the LKE. The Civil Service Act I hope will prove to provide structure for the crucial development of future Ministers. Jomsviking deployments have occured in Calefacta Aquas Piscinae, Uniao da Cracolandia and South Pacific. I look forwards to putting out a Foreign Update to our friends and allies in the near future.

Once appointed, John took the time to set out his plans for the term stating "A key focus of this term will be the engagement and retention of new members. Increasing our presence across all platforms used by Balder is a top priority of this government." Hopeful that the recently-passed Civil Service Act (2020) would help get new members involved, John encouraged all ministers to utilise the framework the act provides for to its fullest extend in order to increase activity and new member involvement.

John also announced his cabinet, made up of the following ministers:

University Opening, A New Judiciary, and the Civil Service Act (2020)

With the University of Balder Act passed, King North East Somerset appointed Linkin Maximus as Chancellor of the University. Linkin quickly got on with the work of establishing the university, appointing staff - including John S. Talleyrand as Vice Chancellor - and setting up the various wings and departments. This includes the Balder School of Law, and the Somerset Museum of Balder

With the passing of the the Justice for the Realm Act (2020), Balder now has a permanent judiciary. King North East Somerset put forward his preferred nominations, who were all appointed following confirmation votes in the Lagting. Balder's jusiciary consists of the following:

With the passage of the Civil Service Act (2020), a new structure for government ministries has been brought in. Ministers can now appoint Deputy, Auxiliary and Assistant Ministers to assist them with the running of their departments. The first to make use of this new power was John Spencer-Talleyrand, in his previous position as Culture Minister, who quickly made a number of appointments to assist in the setting up of Balder's new roleplay.

Balder's RP Reimagined

The government has spearheaded an effort to develop Balder's roleplay scene. This term has seen the establishment of the governing rules of the RP, via the "Runic Accords", and the creation of a map.

On the map front, the Statsminister is very pleased to unveil the "Atlas of the Nordics", the official map of the region. This ambitious project couldn't have been as successful as it has without Bran Astor's tremendous help. Balder is lucky to have such gracious allies.

On the governance front, after public consultation, RPers will control a Nordic country during the Late Modern period (1800-1914). The main governing body of the world shall be the "Norsemen Council", an intergovernmental organisation responsible for resolving disputes and serving as the guardian of the peace.

With a number of nations having already signed up, and with interest growing we look forward to seeing many more!

If You would like to be involved in the Kaijan Affair please give your ambassador to Slokais name as well as its location in Slokais as seen on the Embassay Page. And a possible location of the Slokais Embassy in your nation and keep in mind I will probably have part of the story set in your country at some point so be ready for that.

On an island that knows too much chaos. Conflict returns once again to the historic Kaijan Island and a hotbed of culture, history yet also conflict. Yet this is different the conflict will go beyond the limits of this tropical island. It will even go beyond Slokais Islands itself. Drama, Action, Intrtrieg all things you can expect in this series.

While I'm not entirely sure whether this is necessary, my last post on this forum was almost 14 years ago and given there are therefore NS users legally able to post on the forum who were not even born at that time, I will make a reintroduction.

I am Quintessence of Dust, known by various other nation names as well. I was an active IDU for only a couple of months over the 2006/7 New Year, but have fond memories of the region. After leaving the region I served as delegate of Wysteria for a couple of years before drifting into lengthy inactivity; subsequent brief returns to the game never included reactivating QoD, which went CTE for the last time in 2011. This time I have returned with QoD in tow and with Wysteria now fairly inactive and the IDU thriving I thought I would pitch my tent back here.

I am mainly noted for my cuddly and warm sensibility, always having a polite and diplomatic way of expressing myself, and my great love of the Security Council.

Europeian Republican Navy Twelve Month Cumulative Report

(Europeia, October 26, 2020) – The Europeian Republican Navy (ERN) has recently conducted a review of its level of operations and target hit rate from the last twelve months, inclusive of joint holds and allied operations. After suffering from a period of somewhat quiet decline from mid-2019, the ERN is now seeing encouraging levels of operations being run, and many sailors being trained for leadership.

In October 2019, the ERN was involved in a total of four operations, gaining a total of 19 targets hit. However, notably, over the next seven months (until May 2020), the ERN ran, or were involved in, a total of 11 operations, garnering a total amount of 14 targets hit.

With a recent rejuvenation of it's forces, starting in the June of 2020, the ERN is now seeing high levels of capability, culminating in the highest series of operations run, and targets hit, in the month of October 2020. 21 operations have been run so far over the last month, and 121 targets were hit.

Although the ERN has recently changed some of its tactics to focus on competitive challenges between its sailors, the demand for training from its own forces, and the scouting for new enlistee's, remains a high priority.
