	Once the Senate of the Pen has convened for its annual session in Auzina Hall, it divides into councils of eight members, referred to as Councils of the Pen. Each council devises a list of formal nominees for a singular standard prize before deciding the final winner and a runner up. ==Selection Process==

The selection process for the Inkwell Prizes is supervised by the High Council of the Pen, a group of twenty-five experts nominated for life by the [[Senate of Eiria|Eirian Senate]]. Every year, these Grand Councillors devise a list of 175 experts, academics and professionals from various fields to consult with on the awarding of each prize. Combined with the High Council, this body of 200 experts is called the Senate of the Pen. Senators of the Pen may nominate individuals to win the various Inkwell Prizes, but are ineligible for any prizes from that year themselves.
