			Iekika was born in 1902 to [[Leimomi Anand]] and an unknown father, due to the practice at the time of polyamory amongst the tribes of Aeluria. As a child, she was raised with the other children of the Anand tribe of eastern Aeluria. At the time, children were raised the same regardless of gender until the onset of puberty. Once Iekika reached the age of fourteen, she began to assist her mother in the governance of the island.

			==Third War of Independence==
			Until 1887, Aeluria was led by a matriarchal Council of Elders, however due to a plague in 1887, the island transitioned to hereditary rule. At the time of Iekika's birth, her grandmother was in charge, which later passed to her mother prior to the onset of the [[Third War of Aelurian Independence]]. During the war, with her mother at the front, Iekika assisted in the handling of affairs unrelated to the conflict.

			==Chief of the Aelurian Tribes==
			On the 26 February 1922, Iekika's mother Leimomi was killed by Lauchenoirian troops, and leadership of the island passed to Iekika. The commander of the Lauchenoirian forces offered her an ultimatum: if she surrendered immediately, she and the others who had fought against [[Lauchenoirian unification]] would be free to live their lives unharmed. Otherwise they would invade the island by force, likely to cause many more deaths. Iekika took the offer and surrendered; however the Lauchenoirians went back on their word, capturing Iekika and the other fighters and imprisoning them all for fifteen years.

			==Imprisonment==
			After the Lauchenoirians betrayed Iekika and conquered Aeluria, Iekika and the other Aelurians who had actively fought in the war were taken to a prison somewhere in mainland Lauchenoiria, where they were kept for fifteen years until 1937, when they were granted amnesty. During her imprisonment, Iekika was kept separated from the other prisoners. Conditions were poor, with a number of the Aelurians dying of various diseases allowed to spread unchecked through the prison. Iekika was kept isolated from the outside world, being denied any visitors, or the right to receive or write letters. After her release, she described her treatment as "horrendous".
