Litudinem
Litudinem, the Maximusian financial hub, is the nation’s capital and its second most populous city. Founded as a humble logging and caravan outpost, Litudinem now houses the expansive and imposing Senate Complex, which houses the nation’s legislature, and the Presidential Manor, the official state home of every Maximusian president since its construction in 1851. The city’s major hubs are linked by a state-of-the-art underground train system. Litudinem’s MLAF (Major League Association Football) club, the Litudinem FC Javelins, will be moving from their home stadium to the newly constructed Samuel Farthing Stadium at the start of the 2023 season.

Litudinem will host all of the Group I matches, which will be played in either the Bailey Sports Center or the Samuel Farthing Memorial Stadium. The Bailey Center can hold up to 65,000 spectators while Samuel Farthing, the largest sports venue in Libertas Omnium Maximus, can hold 91,000 fans.

Iustitia City
The oldest continually occupied settlement on Iustitia Island (also known as the “Isle of Gulls”), Iustitia City was founded in 1395 by Valahandian settlers. Today, in addition to being home to nearly 3 million Maximusian citizens, Iustitia City houses many of the nation’s largest corporations and tech startups. Visitors love Iustitia City’s crystal clear waters and beautiful beaches. The Cathedral of St. Peter, constructed in 1737 and located in Iustitia City’s downtown district, is the largest religious-affiliated structure in the nation. The Iustitia City FC Watermen are the city’s MLAF team, playing out of the Marconi Stadium.
Iustitia City will host all of the Group II matches, which will be played in either the Marconi Stadium or the Iustitia City Athletic Compound (ICAC). Marconi Stadium can host 60,100 spectators and the ICAC can seat 33,000 persons.

Lumeniola
Lumeniola, the city of light, consistently ranks among the top Maximusian cities to live in. From safe streets to ample amenities, Lumeniola has practically anything a visitor could want in an urban vacation. In addition to hundreds of boutique shops, venues, and eateries within the city limits, Lumeniola is situated in the rolling hills of western Hampton, surrounded by world-renowned vineyards and orchards. A city bifurcated by the mighty Boenecca River, visitors may enjoy choosing a side in the friendly East Lumeniola v. West Lumeniola rivalry. In major league football, West Lumeniola is represented by the Lumeniola FC Sparks, while East Lumeniola generally supports the Lumeniola AC Vines.
Lumeniola will host all of the Group III matches, which will be played in either the Granite Park Arena, which is in East Lumeniola, or Stalton Grounds, which is in West Lumeniola. Granite Park can seat up to 34,600 spectators while Stalton Grounds has a maximum seating capacity of 39,393 persons.

Perra
Perra, though the smallest of the host cities, is the nation’s undisputed football hub. It is home to the MLAF headquarters and the Maximusian Football Hall of Fame. Once an unassuming, blue-collar railroad town, Perra has transformed into a vibrant and rapidly growing urban nexus over the past two decades. It is the perfect jumping-off point for visitors looking to explore the Maximusian northeast. An elevated train connects most of the city’s hotspots, including the historic downtown district and the now-famous Alta Boulevard, home to many clubs, restaurants, and entertainment venues. For the more outdoor-adventure-oriented visitors, opportunities to hike, climb, camp, and fish are less than an hour away in the Kapoulon foothills. Perra’s local MLAF team is the Perra FC Vanguards.

Perra will host all of the Group IV matches, which will be played in either the Mallory Gildon Memorial Sports Center or the Tannus Bank Stadium. Tannus Bank has a maximum seating capacity of 20,401 spectators, while the Mallory Gildon is equipped to seat as many as 53,750 persons.

At the end of each week, brief game summaries will be posted by the host for every group stage match. These match summaries will contain information on goals scored (when and by whom), other notable player events (such as penalty kicks or yellow cards), and general notes on the course of play. Fan reactions, changes of strategy, and off-pitch player antics are left up to participating nations to roleplay out. Seeing as we were unable to reach the required number of participants to actually have a tournament before the Christmas/Holiday hiatuses kicked in, signups for the 2021 tournament were indefinitely suspended... until today. Registration for the championship, which will ideally be held in late July or early August, are officially reopened. While participants who already submitted their team rosters last year need not resubmit their registration (unless they want to change the team info), it would be highly appreciated if they could reaffirm their desire to participate in the tournament. Since several nations have CTE'd or gone dormant, there are still a number of open slots for new participants.
The tournament is being rebranded to "IDUFC 2022", but will be mechanically identical to the original. The format, rules, and IC information will remain the same.
An (out of character) note from the host
In an effort to keep our "annual" Football Championship as yearly as possible, I'd like to announce the opening of the 2021 IDUFC registration period at this time. I'm honored to be hosting the third iteration of the region's most successful single-discipline sporting event, and hope to uphold the tournament's reputation as a top-notch sports role-play. Some of the most impressive character-development and culture-building I've seen in my 4+ years of NS has come from this tournament, and I'm sure this year will produce many memorable and colorful characters.

Following the time-tested advice: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," I don't plan to deviate much from the format instituted by Laeral in 2018 and continued in 2020 by Legionas. The tournament results will once again be generated by leaguesimulator.eu, which is both user friendly (meaning less chance for catastrophic data loss) and produces realistic results with just enough random chance to produce exciting upsets. Specifically, the tournament will either use a 16t&4g format or a 32t&8g format, depending on how many participants register. Either way, the championship will have one "group-style" and one "bracket-style" stage, with teams initially divided into round-robin style groupings and the top two teams from each group moving on to a single-elimination bracket stage.

When signing up, participants should allocate 10 points into their team's Attack and Defense profiles, with 9 being the most points allocatable into either profile (eg. 5-5, 9-1, or 8-2 being allowed, but 10-0 being prohibited). Participants who list their team's uniform colors, team roster, and the home club of each player may allocate an additional 1, 2, and 2 points, respectively, for each stat they fill out. In other words, a player who fills out all details may allocate 15 points between Attack and Defense.

Thanks to the success of the previous tournament, the IDUFC 2018 hosted by [nation]Laeral[/nation], I have been mandated to organize and host the championship. The IDUFC 2019 will be a low-intensity, easy-entry sports roleplay very similar to the previous one. I intend to use leaguesimulator.eu for generating results since it served us well last time. I have performed test runs to familiarize myself with how it works and have found that the semi-random 16 team-4 group format will work best for the tournament.

Roleplay Information:
[nation]The Federation of Legionas[/nation] will be hosting the 2019 International Democratic Union's Football Championship/IDU World Cup. I'll describe the stadiums where the matches will take place, pre match highlights (I may also try and roleplay pre and post match press conferences with the team managers and players for some matches), the final match score and main highlights of the game. Roleplay isn't necessary or required but is encouraged and will be appreciated. The winner of the tournament will carry home the prestigious IDUFC Champions Cup and the bragging rights as the greatest team in the IDU. I intend to run one game every other day for each group stage once the tournament has begun( Group stages will take around a week to conclude). There will also be a third place play off to be played before the final.

Technical Stuff:
Leaguesimulator.eu generates results based on each team's Attacking and Defending scores, although there is some room for upsets. Attacking and Defending scores can each range from 1 to 9, with 9 being the best. Each player's team will start with 10 points which they can allocate to those two scores as they wish. However, establishing more details about your team in your application gets you more points to spend. The scale is as follows:
Describing team kit/uniform design: +1
Listing team squad list: +2
Listing home club of each player: +2

Puppet nations which may participate in the tournament will begin with 7 points instead of 10 points and are limited to only one per player.
You may begin submitting your applications on the 16th of April. There will be no official deadline, there's no real hurry. The Official Team list should contain at least 18 players and no more than 23 players
After the success of the 2018 IDU Football Championship, it's now time for another iteration of this region-wide sporting tournament.* After both tournament winner Gnejs and runner-up United New England declined to host, this event has been opened up for hosting bids.

OOC: What will hosting the IDUFC entail?
Basically whatever you want to make of it! This most recent IDUFC was the first one hosted in a decade, and so I just sort of improvised the way it was done: using leaguesimulator.eu, the skill points system based on initial RP contributions, writing up lengthy and detailed descriptions of each match. How this IDUFC will look is largely up to the host to decide. In my own experience, I found it quite time-consuming to write up the description of each match, so I would suggest only providing some basic details (the final score, which players scored and when, maybe a highlight of the game) for each match. Part of the host bid app will involve explaining how you would intend to run the Championship.
IDUFC 2019 Host Application
Nation Name:
Host Cities:
Brief Description of Cities:
Description of Host Nation's Football History:
Scorinator Used for Championship: (leaguesimulator.eu, Xkorinate, other simulator)
Plans for Championship: (How would you host the event? How would the starting value of each team be calculated? Would there be a bonus for placing well in last year's IDUFC, or in the NS Olympics? How much description would you provide after every match? Etc.)[/box]

Bid applications will close around Sunday, April 12th, or if four event bids are placed.

*the reason it's numbered as the 2019 iteration is because the 2018 IDUFC went from November 2018 to January 2019 anyways, and we're just running a bit behind here.

Following the 2008 IDU Football Championships, the idea of an international football competition laid dormant. Now, in the interests of promoting peaceful international athletic competition and strengthening the bonds of friendship between nations, the IDUFC has been revived. This annual competition will determine the best football team in the IDU.

All matches will be played in Laeral. Matches will be played at the following locations:
Group A: Parc de Noblesse, Loiraine (53,000); Stade Nationale de Lyrene, Bethune (47,000)
Group B: Stade Cenefort, Cenefort (52,000); Songshan Athletic Arena, Meilinis (41,000)
Group C: Stade International Laeralien, Laeralsford (76,000); Hanshui Stadium, Nanhai(58,000)
Group D: Laeralsford Sporting Center, Laeralsford (55,000); Parc de Auvergne, Cote d'Argent (43,000)

All matches involving the Laeralian national team taking place at the Stade International Laeralien. In all other groups, the location of each match is determined by the Laeralian Ministry of Culture. The quarterfinals will take place at the first stadium listed for each group, while the semi-finals will be at Laeralsford Sporting Center and the Parc de Noblesse, while the final will be at the Stade International Laeralien.

The 16 eligible teams have randomly been assigned to groups as follows:
Group A: Bonalando, Lauchenoiria, Legionas, United New England
Group B: Lumeau, Slokais Islands, Shuell, The Dezreik
Group C: Conternia, Gnejs, Laeral, Verwood
Group D: Gonhog, Libertas Omnium Maximus, New Lusitania, Trive

Laeral will reimburse transit and housing costs for all athletes. Ticket sales are allocated through a lottery system, with 20% of seats reserved for Laeralites, and greater preference given for those wishing to see the team of their home nation.

Each team will play each of the teams in it's group once. The two teams in each group that do best based on points (3 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss) will move on to the quarter-finals. The quarter-finals, and all subsequent matches, will be single-elimination, with penalties used to resolved draws. The winner of the IDUFC Final will be awarded the IDU Cup, as well as the right of first refusal for next year's IDUFC.

Ten years ago, the IDU hosted a 'World Cup'-like event, the IDU Football Championship. After this year's World Cup, [nation]Trive 38[/nation] and I had the idea of reviving the Championship. The IDUFC will be a low-intensity, easy-entry sports roleplay, using the score-generating website leaguesimulator.eu to generate results. I've used League Simulator before to generate results for Laeralian Ligue 1 soccer, and I intend to use their 16-team World Cup mode to run the tournament.

Roleplay Details:
Laeral will host the 2018 IDUFC. I'll basically use this as background fluff, describing the stadiums that matches will take place in and other RP details. Roleplay won't be necessary or required after each team's application is submitted, although I'd certainly welcome it. The winner of the tournament will take home the IDU Football Cup and the glory of being the greatest team in IDU soccer. I do intend to include some minor roleplay details with every game result coming out- newspaper headlines, highlights, or something of the like.

Technical Details:
Leaguesimulator.eu generates results based on each team's Attack and Defense scores, although there is some room for randomness and upsets. Attack and Defense scores can each range from 1 to 9, with 9 being the best. Each player's team will start with 10 points which they can allocate to those two scores as they wish. However, establishing more details about your team in your application gets you more points to spend. The scale is as follows:
Describing team uniform colors: +1
Listing team roster: +2
Listing home club of each player: +2

Ideally, the number of points to be gained from adding roleplay details about the team gives players an advantage over other teams with fewer roleplay details, but this advantage won't be insurmountable. Once we have 16 teams (puppets are okay, but are limited to 1 per player, and start off with 6 points instead of 10) I'll plug the numbers into leaguesimulator and I'll run about 1 game per day.

There's no real need to hurry on this; we can start whenever we have 16 teams. Thoughts or comments, anyone?

Application Form:
Country Trigram (3-letter abbreviation for your country):
Uniform (Optional description of uniform, +1 points for completing):
Team Roster (Optional list of team members, +2 points for a list of names, another +2 for listing their home clubs):
Your offense score and defense score are each numbers from 1-9. You an allocate your total points as you wish to each stat. Total points are the number of points you may have received from the optional parts above, plus 10 points for main nations or 6 points for puppets. Only 1 puppet per player.
