The idea for this map design project is for the various vexilloligists of the newly formed/forming IDUVA to have a chance to show off their skills/styles. All participants will have the same brief to work from and are encouraged to present as much or as little of their own inspirational progress as they wish.
Each submission and any accompanying notes will then form part of that designers public portfolio visible to future potential clients.
The brief
What follows is provided to help the designer get a feel for what I'm likely to appreciate. I do however, encourage all designers to put their own style into designs and invite any accompanying explanation they see fit to include.
About the nation:
Bonalando is a league of diverse and widely spread city states co-governed by a democratically elected executive council.
Esperanto is the primary official language, with English, Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Russian etc... all serving as secondary official languages. Minority languages are also given protection and locally encouraged. In reality this is resulting in each city developing its own creole.
Bonalando promotes international and cross-cultural cooperation very highly. As such it is very tolerant of diversity, so long as the elements of such diversity remain tolerant of each other.
Bonalando promotes Humanism as if it were a national religion although religions are respected when they are practiced with an open mind and humanitarian spirit.
Requirements and guidelines for the flag:
-It should incorporate tributes to:
- Esperanto, probably with the green 5 pointed star.
- Global citizenship.
-It should not incorporate.
- Anything strongly resembling a major religion's symbol. Except perhaps a humanist symbol
RL flags I find satisfying:
- Modern Brazil.
- Modern South Africa.
Good luck to all applicants.
