The Defense of Tir Nan Og - Duechlander - 04-26-2005

There are plans from a Rogue Region to invade Tir Nan Og. We aren't going to join, but what I was thinking was that we hire a different Region to crash the Region that is going to invade Tir Nan Og. I will telegram those who want to know the Delegate for the Rogue region

The Defense of Tir Nan Og - Sober Thought - 04-26-2005

This region is democratic and opposes crashing, griefing, mass ejecting or other anti-democratic methogs. Check out our principles in the Department of Immigration section.

It is a kind of play, and there are many other regions in which you can do this sort of thing.

I agree with Sober Thought. The nations of this region are here in opposition to region crashing. We're a peaceful region. While the region that is being invaded has our sympathies, there's nothing we can do to help them.

Out of Character (OOC):
There are several different ways to play NationStates. One way is in invasion / defending, sometimes called "tank rushing". Personally, having been on the receiving end of mass griefing at the hands of Great Bight, I am inclined to admire the actions of "defenders" and my sympathies lie with them and those whom are invaded.

There are several organizations that are build about defending invasions, and my advice is that anybody who is interested in exploring that aspect of the game should contact the Avengers Assemble or the North Pacific ambassadors to the IDU and ask them for their advice. Even if they aren't active in "defending" or "invading", as allies of ours, they can put you in contact with a way to coordinate these activities and coach us through this.

That said, I personally like to focus on two other aspects of NationStates:

1) United Nations
2) Roleplay

Ultimately I find it really rewarding to first talk to others and just get a feel for what people are thinking and how they react to things, and then a bit of good old fashioned roleplaying.

The IDU isn't a region too many invaders are currently interested in, because for a long time we had a founder. I've asked the moderators about the possibility of re-establishing a founder so we could totally avoid invasion here, but their advice (at the time) was for all of us to start over again. Sad

In any event, invaders only have the power to squat on a name we like ... and ultimately we can always move if necessary, so I tend to downplay that part of the game, focusing on other aspects (this is just my opinion).

If you are interested in roleplaying "war", the United Nations Organizations (link in the header above) is current engaged in peacekeeping operations in Crimmond and also has an embargo against Belem. The basic idea is to exchange telegrams and stories about international events.

For a more mechanical aspect of the game, the NS UN does have need of players that can craft proposals (good or bad) and move those proposals higher in the queue. Currently two IDU resolutions are under attack in the UN proposal queue, and I honestly believe the best way to erase that threat is to propose new proposals / resolutions that will distract those nations.

Tonight I'll probably be submitting "draft" proposal into the queue that will appeal to capitalist nations. My intent is to put feelers out for the "draft" and also to protect the existing IDU international law by drawing attention to *new* ideas.

The major problem with the UN is the easy ideas have been dealt with, so nations are less likely to focus on good and real problems, and tend to want to revisit old debates. Sad I think the way to address this is to continually bring forward new and interesting ideas, and I'd like to ask that if you are up to the challenge that simply voicing your opinion in UN affairs can really HELP the UN and IDU! Smile

Though this is unrelated to the current thread, there is of course an open RP that is developing in the following United Nations Organization forum:

http://s3.invisionfree.com/UN_Organizations/index.php?c=8

It involves UN "Peacekeeping" Forces being sent to Crimmond, where elves are being killed.

The Defense of Tir Nan Og - Groot Gouda - 04-27-2005

I'm glad to see the support for my policy of non-intervention and peace. I won't add much more, because Mikitivity has supplied all the information Duechlander might need to get something done without the IDU getting involved.

For as long as I am delegate here, the IDU will not get actively involved in war and invasion. Period.
(what members do on their own behalf with puppets outside the IDU is of their own concern, of course. As long as the IDU stays out)
