I wouldn't call any animal uninspiring. In fact, the point behind national animals is to provide our people's with something to identify with.

I also think our animals tell others a bit about our nations.

The animal of my nation is the Eagle, it's a magnificent bird and it is symbolic for the strenght of my nation.
In my main nation(Batavorium) the Eagle is also my national animal. But in most of my puppets I have other animals.

The national animal of DataGenesis is the puppy. Puppies are infinitely huggable and roam freely around the nation keeping the inhabitants very happy.

Unfortunately our former national animal, the bunny (equally huggable), was hugged/eaten to extinction. We do not plan to make the same mistake again with our cute little puppies.

Our animal is the draig (Welsh for dragon).

We have two main varieties: Y Draig Goch (The Red Dragon), which forms part of our flag, and Y Draig Ddu (The Black Dragon). But their are other breeds, also distinguished primarily by colour.

Sober Thought went with fox, because I thought "crazy like a fox" or "clever as a fox" seemed to reflect the idea of thought. However, I like the owl theme which suggests more wisdom rather than mere sneakiness.

Would owl nations object if joined their bandwagon and adopted Weeps the owl of Farley Mowat fame as my national animal? I haven't read the book in more than 25 years, but it made a big impression on me as a child. I think it was a common barn owl.

When that list was first compiled, the other schnauzervolk nations were still outside the IDU. Sine all five of the schnauzervolk nations are here now, for the record, all five share the same national animal, the wild schnauzer, and the same currency.
