Foreign Art Museum - Mikitivity - 12-06-2005

Hello,

I was planning to pop a large art museum from another culture in Miervatia City. It would be like having a "Chinese Culture Museum" in a city like San Francisco. The idea would be that the museum would be in Mikitivity, but everything inside would in some way be related back to another IDU member's country. I'll create a Wiki entry and come up with the exteroir of the building, but the catch is that whomever would like the museum to represent their culture, should be able to help me by feeding me a few examples of spotlight exhibits in the musuem. Pretty simply stuff, but I thought it would be a fun addition that could tie two countries together. Smile

I'd like to do this, but I can't think of what I'd like to be added to it just yet. I'll get back to you when I can think of something.

Great! So if NSWiki will allow me, I'll create a stub for the Malabrian (is that right) Cultural Museum in Miervatia City's Diplomatic Quarter. Smile I'll keep my eye out for a building to use for the image too, and I'll Wikify the building under both our countries.

If you'd like it to be named after somebody from your country, for example "Pickering Museum of Malabrian Art and Culture" let me know. Smile This will be a cool way to connect our countries (and if others like the idea, I'd encourage you to open up a museum or perhaps "gardens" in one of your countries and opening it up to another IDU member).

For things to add ... maybe the place to start would be to make up the name of a fictional artist ... "The Pickering Museum is known for having the largest collection of Johannes Vermeer paintings outside of Malabra. The museum acquired a number of the pieces as a gift from Malabra in recognition of the number of citizens from the two countries that have made the other their home." Something like that would be great.

(Vermeer is one of my favorite painters BTW. It should go without say that he was Dutch.)

For an example of what I'm thinking of ...

Naturally, if you have a favorite scuplture or painting, we can put an image of it in the entry.

On that note, we could consider having a few LEGOland parks located in a few key countries in the IDU (like one of the east and west coasts). In the early days of the IDU LEGOs were pretty popular.

Finally, if people want a taste of Mikitivity, there are three things I'll be enhancing that I think would make interesting museums.

1) The Spice Trade
2) Railroad History
3) Airships

For the airships, you could say that your country was one of the earlier and first long-distance airship ports between your nation and mine, hence the museum. BTW, I'm RPing that airships are still common in my country (due to the mountains).

Here is what it looks like:

The museum would have one floor above ground level, one at, and at least one below. It goes back a block behind the main house.

I want to have a Baranxtuan Cultural Museum somewhere, too *pout* Wink

Also, if any nation wants to have their own museum in my capital city (not called by its name here because of letter display problems), I'd be happy to provide a building and a wiki template (and something I'd be very interested in would be something like a Museum of Thuvian Cultures or the like).

And if anyone wants to add artefacts from the Riatena Shrine to their museums, I'd be happy to see them displayed somewhere else. You could say it was a gift from any of the Baranxtuan monarchs since 1846...

That can easily be arranged. I'll have to hunt for a photo of a building, but if you have a digital camera and some cool old large buildings, one of those could work too.

I was actually specifically thinking that I'm going to start working on what "Spice Melange" is ... and since melange literally means a blend, I was thinking the tnani spice is one of the key components of my people's loved "Spice Melange".

On the historical portion of the Risden River I wrote of a spice trade from somewhere south of Sober Thought, and naturally Baranxtu fits in perfectly, assuming you are OK with that?

You don't have to assume - as a matter of fact, I'd be very happy with that! Makes Baranxtu feel a little less separated from everyone all the way down in the south Wink

If you could do that, I'll be even more forever in your debt Big Grin... I must remember to make a digital camera top of my wishlist, I so do need one (however, poor! student! !ISSUES! here *whine*).
Apart from that, around here, I don't really know of any old large buildings that look like something that could be turned to a museum, only many tasteless modern buildings (and the old ones we do have are rather small, think of the forest shack of a witch).

See, I haven't forgotten about this one!

The Museum of Baranxtuan Culture
Yay me!
