OK, what's a Scribent?

I've searched several dictionaries with no success. Can anyone enlighten me?

Sounds like it likely has something to do with writing

Usage: foreign term
Etymology: Latin
: rage for writing[/quote]
This is the closest I could find; and it looks like to me, that your word is a corruption of the Latin.

Smile Before reading the thread, I figured this would be a game where we created definitions. If I had to, that is what I'd think too: person who writes frequently.

Someone who writes a lot. "scribent" means "writing" in Latin.

Thought it'd look nice. If anyone else has better ideas, feel free. The admins can assign a text according to the # of posts.

But 'scribent' is not correct Latin! Oh no, it should be 'scribens', that means writing! 'scribent-' is the word stem, but... aighaaa...

Sorry, where was I? Tongue

OK, that makes sense. Based on the root bearing a resemblance to "scribe" I had assumed it had something to do with writing, but curiosity got the better of me.

I did mean to write "(pig) latin", to make it clear that most of the latin I learned at school is now buried deeper than Pompei and Herculaneum. Wink
