[b]Huan Lui, mayor of Lummis announces run to President of Millpitas

Huan Lui, theĀ current mayor of Lummis, has announced that he will be a candidate for the presidency of Millpitas, for the National Progressive party against incumbent Shui Ma-Meng. Lui won the mayorship of Lummis in 2015 and was reelected in 2019 with 76% of the vote. He is a widely popular mayor, championing education access, healthcare and tax cuts. Political analysts note that his ties to Lummis will help him, as said city holds 61% of the population of Millpitas.

New poll: Lui leads for president with a near-majority; Parliament passes compromiseĀ marijuana bill

A poll released today commissioned by our newspaper shows Huan Lui with a near-majority for the presidential race, at 49% versus Ma-Meng's 45%. Lui is leading with 63% of the vote on Lummis, while he tracks well behind outside of it, 27% to 68%. And on another topic, after weeks of debate, the Parliament has officially passed the compromise marijuana bill, which legalizes the use on private, but keeps the use on public illegal, and includes a additional 3% tax for establishments which sell it. The compromise legislation passed on a unanimous vote by the Parliament.
