IDU Regional Update Drafting, Summer 2019 - Laeral - 07-29-2019

IDU Regional Update
This thread is for the purposes of producing a newspaper-style news update for distribution to other regions. What follows are my ideas for how this update can be produced; these are subject to change. Feel free to post with any comments or criticisms.

Name: No clear ideas are coming to me for a name for the newspaper. "The Democrat" or "The IDU Democrat" seem like possibilities to me, although suggestions are appreciated.

Publishing Schedule: My intent is to publish an issue every three months, with a schedule as follows:
January: Winter
April: Spring
July: Summer
October: Autumn
This thread will be used to produce the Summer 2019 issue.

Format: To avoid complex formatting issues, I'm thinking that a straightforward, one article after the next, format should be used, similar to the various RP newsthreads that have sprung up on this forum.

Articles and Content:
I'm looking for authors to write each of the following articles, as sorted into sections.

Regional Government
-Article on the recent Delegate elections and Lauch's campaign promises. United New England
-Article on the IDUSA Speaker elections and LOM's campaign promises Christos
-Article on the new Delegate Council and it's relations to previous councils
-Interview with a regional officer (conducted via Discord or TG) United New England

Roleplay
-Article on the Bjeorg roleplay Zamastan
-Article on the proliferation of national newsthreads Libertas Omnium Maximus
-Article on the TRC roleplay Lauchenoiria
-Short 'spotlight' piece highlighting a specific roleplayer
-Short 'spotlight' piece highlighting a specific IDUwiki and news article Laeral

Please reply with this thread to tell me what articles you'd like to write, or if you have any ideas for another article. I've already signed up for one article, and I'll plan on taking whatever articles are left over. Once we have topics assigned, we can start writing and compiling them. Thanks for your participation!

I think that Gonhog and Christos would both be good candidates for writers for this. They are active and understand the interworking of The IDU well.

I'm planning on a late summer update. The individual articles don't have to be all that long, so I think it's reasonable to have it done in 2 weeks or so.

I think there should be a list of nations that joined the IDUSA for every 3 months.
And maybe open up the interviews to more that regional officers. Knowing this is a post-election time having interviews it makes sense why it would be regional officers.

And if possible I could write a "How to Join the IDUSA In-Depth Guide." Don't know what category this could go in, maybe a Misc. section?

That is a good idea but keep in mind that this is a newswire primarily going out to our Embassy Regions. They can't join the IDUSA so I am uncertain an article like that would be relevant to them. Maybe just an article on the IDUSA in general?

Not really. The focus of the interview, the type of questions, is all up to you. We don't exactly have a precedent to go off of here.

I'd recommend looking at The North Pacific's regional updates, they often do interviews with noteworthy residents, if I remember correctly.

I would of course encourage those not otherwise involved in regional government to write articles but if nobody else wants to & it's left over at the end, I'd be willing to do the TRC one. I am, after all, the world's foremost expert on the Second Lauchenoirian Civil War!

You may also want to consider including a Regional Population and a WA population on region bar at the top.

I actually like Laeral's original suggestion - The Democrat.

I think it easily identifies the region, our system of governance, and it sounds like an actual paper name.

I've received LOM's article on the news threads, UNE's interview, and UNE's article on the Delegate elections, while I'm almost done with the wiki page article. Everything else still needs to be written, although we can drop one or two of the articles if we have to.
