It is with great honour and delight that our Government received your kind invitation to attend the wedding of Her Highness Princess Amelia Frederika and His Lordship David McKenzie. Cognisant of the importance of relations between our two countries, it would be not just a shame but impolite that we would allow such an opportunity to be missed.

I am delighted to confirm that, on behalf of the Government of Sanctaria, Minister for Diplomatic Affairs Ben Sessions will be in attendance. Accompanying him to further represent the Divine Republic will be our nation's Ambassador to the Council of IDU States, Dr. Katherine Saunders.

The Wedding Dress


The dress, designed by top designer, Mikaal van Oormsbij, designed a dress that appears quite simple but is in reality a pattern-making wonder. He took bespoke natural silk woven with silver thread by a Jorkeian firm and cut it continuously from shoulder to floor, creating a gown that is slim in front and flows out into a large round train (4.5 meters, or nearly 15 feet, long) in the back.

Silver and gold threads are embroidered in shapes of fleur de lys (a symbol of the Blozendlandic Royalty) and fleur de lys flowers, clovers, strawberry tree fruits, and ears of wheat around the sleeves and the base of the dress and train. The high collar is embroidered on both sides. The embroidery is intricate, but used sparingly, so it doesn't overpower the dress.

The Dark Star Republic will be represented at the wedding by Hannah Butterworth, Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Gyser Picklewickle, Member of Parliament for Redding South, and their respective partners. Ms. Butterworth will take the opportunity of visiting Blotzenland to stay on after the wedding and lobby for a mutual exchange of diplomatic relations.

Marriage is intended by God to be a creative relationship, as his blessing enables husband and wife to love and support each other in good times and in bad, and to share in the care and upbringing of children. For Christians, marriage is also an invitation to share life together in the spirit of Jesus Christ. It is based upon a solemn, public and life-long covenant between a man and a woman, declared and celebrated in the presence of God and before witnesses.

On this their wedding day the bride and bridegroom face each other, make their promises and receive God's blessing. You are witnesses of the marriage, and express your support by your presence and your prayers. Your support does not end today: the couple will value continued encouragement in the days and years ahead of them.
